Leadership is a team sport.

Leadership Team Development

Teamwork is tricky at the top. Leadership teams face not only the challenges of all teams, but also a set of unique obstacles. These include intensified political behavior, increased visibility, fundamentally conflicting missions, and the collision of strong talents.

Frank Granek delivers a High Performance Leadership Team Development Process that can help teams follow a clear path to optimal performance. The team becomes more productive in both the short term and long term. Executives can channel their collective wisdom and energy where it really matters: to frame and advance critical organizational goals, and function as a positive role model of team effectiveness for the organization.

Frank’s High Performance Leadership Team Development Process has four stages. These stages, described below, constitute a core framework. Frank recognizes that every team has unique opportunities and performance objectives. The exact sequence of elements is closely customized to these factors, ensuring the right balance of early wins and long-term development.

Phase 1: Leadership Team Performance Analysis

This initial stage takes stock of the team’s performance on six critical success factors. Insight into the term’s performance and collective brand is garnered not only from team members but also from stakeholders below and above in the organizational hierarchy. Goal clarification is rigorous. Team performance objectives are established on all five of the Phillips’ five levels: reaction, learning, behavior, business results, and return on investment.

Phase 2: Leadership Team Core Process Refinement

In close collaboration with team members Frank helps optimize – and where appropriate formalize – the suite of core processes. These include meeting procedures, goals, roles, decision making and other team engagement processes. Community of practice dynamics are infused to systematize sharing of experiences and learnings. Frank helps craft a High Performance Leadership Team Charter that – unlike so many – makes a real difference, ie. distills the team’s mission and spirit, and helps galvanize coordinated action.

Phase 3: The High Performance Leadership Team Workshop

This workshop builds on the team’s strengths and historical successes while forthrightly identifying and closing performance gaps. It combines highly pragmatic models with stimulating discussion, customized case studies and a range of experiential learning activities. It helps the team work together to optimize performance on these Six High Performance Leadership Team Success Factors:

  • Respectful Relationships
  • Drive for Results
  • Positive Communication
  • Embracing Conflict
  • Creative Play
  • Continuous Learning

Phase 4: Targeted Coaching and Training

Frank can advance team development on the plane of individual contribution through one-on-one coaching, potentially for both team members and the team lead. At the same time he can customize and deliver workshops that continue to accelerate team growth while capitalizing on its most salient organizational opportunities. These workshops may include one or more of the following:

  • Raising Team EQ
  • Whole Brain Team Innovation
  • Team Growth from the Inside Out
  • The VUCA-Ready Team
